Legendary video game company Atari has been around since 1972, having released some of the most iconic classic arcade games like Pong, Asteroids, and Centipede. Now, the tech giant recently announced the opening of the world’s first chain of video game-themed hotels.
On the outside of the buildings, Atari’s signature logo will be built into the architecture, making it blindingly obvious that it’s a paradise for gamers around the world. But more importantly, it’s what’s on the inside that really makes these hotels absolutely epic for those who eat, sleep, and breathe gaming and virtual reality.
In addition to normal hotel amenities, the properties will feature immersive VR and AR experiences, as well as high-tech studios and equipment for captivating esporting events and tournament spaces.
“Atari Hotels will be the first of their kind in the U.S., offering gamers of all ages the ultimate in immersive entertainment and in every aspect of gaming. We’re excited to be working on this project with such great partners and to bring a big win to Arizona,” founder Shelly Murphy said in an official press release.
The best part, perhaps, is that visitors won’t need to have a hotel reservation to play the games.
The first of the Atari hotels is set to open in Phoenix, Arizona, and is slated to begin construction in mid-2020. Other locations include Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, and San Jose.
